Tips on Reducing Real Estate Stress

Real Estate agents face from time to time stressful situations and inadvertently they will carry the effects home. Add to that stress the speed of change in technology and Web Services and some can have a hard time coping.

You must remember that some stress is very appropriate and in fact very helpful to your career; how you handle tough situations will give you a chance to show your expertise. So welcome some of it and accept it… in fact acceptance of situations you cannot change has been known to ease the weight of stress.

But all of us have faced situations that cause us to go home disheartened;  here are some tips from medical experts on how you can reduce the negative effects of Stress:

Keep a positive attitude.

Accept that there are events that you cannot control.

Be assertive instead of aggressive. “Assert” your feelings, opinions, or beliefs instead of becoming angry, defensive, or passive.

Learn and practice relaxation techniques.

Exercise regularly. Your body can fight stress better when it is fit.

Eat healthy, well-balanced meals.

Get enough rest and sleep. Your body needs time to recover from stressful events.

Don’t rely on alcohol or drugs to reduce stress.

Seek out social support.

Learn to manage your time more effectively.

I will add one more tip: “Put things in their proper perspective!” – I hear many agents walking around saying: “Oh I am not technical; this internet stuff is not for me.” – Well it better be because Marketing is now done on the Internet. You see you are giving technology too much power – I work with lots of agents who were first intimated by the internet – once they realized that posting a blog, or cropping a picture were tools of their trade, and they embrace them their Web Presence and Influence started increasing. Try to place things in their proper perspective and you will start seeing clearly.
