I Don’t Care about your listing – I Care about You!

The path of least resistance on the internet is Social Media – a path many overindulge because if offers the best illusion; many hear that if Facebook were a country it would be 3rd largest nation in the world, and start drooling about access to all these people. Guess what, those Millions are Not your friends and your overindulging sales postings about your listings will take you nowhere until you connect…

Let me say it again but from the point of view of your friends – “We Don’t care about what you are selling today – we care about you!

I Don't Care about your Real Estate Listing - I Care about You!

In other words if you keep selling on Social Media you will be un-friended – in fact “Unfriend” was the Word of the Year recently.

Just look at your own behavior – haven’t you blocked or stopped showing some “so-called” friends from your channels because of their incessant obsession to sell you, or ask you to help them sell their over-priced gizmos?

Yes, you can use channels of Social Media to share what you are up to, and even talk about some of your listings, but do so from a friendly and personalized manner – tell me how you feel and what is going on with you and I will connect with you…

Let me share some ideas…

1. Take pictures of your listings with you in them – and let people know what it is you are up to today!!! You can for example say: “I am at one of my listings in Franklin Tennessee and trying a new Video Camera to do a walkthrough – how do I look?” This is called engagement – you are sharing of yourself not selling! Remember that Social Media is about gaining influence!

2. Share fun tips; even better, talk about your colleagues and how well they are doing!

3. And please stop using your Brand name as your name in Facebook. We know you are a phony and you do not really speak for other people in your company; if your name is Joe Smith then your profile name should be Joe Smith and your picture should be a picture of you – Not a Logo, worse NOT a QR Code?

Social Media is about honest connections with those we care about – if you corrupt it you will pay a price!
