The Internet is now older than the incoming College Freshmen

This year’s College Freshmen Class is younger than the Web, a fact that may seem banal at first glance; but when you consider that they are our future Homeowners, our future Business Leaders, and the core of our future Upper Middle Class, a special attention should be reflected back on how today’s Real Estate Brokers and Agents are going to serve them using exclusively the Internet.

Yes, I mean nurturing, managing, and closing Real Estate Transactions using the internet; from soup to nuts!

Is the Real Estate Industry ready for the new College Freshmen Class?

Many Real Estate Companies are still flat-footed in this arena; and when you compound that to the median Age of Real Estate Agents being 52 years old, you can start appreciating the disconnect that is coming. (I argue that it is already here.)

This AP Article may be of interest to you, as well as the Beloit College Mindset List.

Some tidbits to help you appreciate this year’s College Freshmen Class:

1. Google is not only a verb; it is their primary source of School Research.

2. Amazon stopped referring to a river in South America, and now means Shopping.

3. Texting is their primary source of communication; Email is for the professors.

The Real Estate Industry has an Internet Challenge right now, and it starts with our own Real Estate Agents; we must do a better job equipping them with the right kind of Internet Understanding; we must go beyond the gadgetry of technology and into a deep comprehension of the “The Internet Mindset.”
